Louise is in hospital in Mae Sot

Louise was admitted to CAWO hospital in Mae Sot today. A blood test confirmed that she has dengue fever. That's why she's been blogging about feeling sick for the last 2 weeks, since just before we left in fact. They are expecting to keep her in for 1 or 2 days and have her hooked up to a drip. Apparently she coped fine with that till she phoned me, then she burst into tears. Poor wee scone.

Our Mae Sot friends are rallying around her. Sylvia took her to the hospital. Other Karen friends have already taken her in some of her favourite gnocchi from Casa Mia but she can't eat yet. She's eaten very little this week and probably not drunk enough either. This morning, she couldn't even eat the croisants she loves to get at Canadian Dave's. Dave, get some more in fast before she needs to convalesce! It's seriously rubbish her being so far away from us while she is ill.

If you want to write to her, she won't get it for 2 weeks but she'll love it when it comes. Send a note to Louise Laing, c/o Borderline Gallery, 674/14 Intharakeeree Road, Mae Sot, TAK 63110, Thailand.

I'll keep you posted on how she's doing. She'll be 19 on Monday 9 August.....

Sheila ( Louise's mum)
