Louise is on holiday in Chiang Mai and too busy to post...

... so here's an email she sent mum just to catch you all up. The hotel, though lovely, has really expensive internet access so she has to go to an internet cafe next door called Happy Hut, which means she has to blog before 9pm and like her mother, she's a late night blogger hence lack of IT contact.....

Hey, I'm in happy hut but I'm meeting stewart and I think murray for coffee soon so I don't have time to blog.

Nick's taking me around chiang mai tomorrow, so i'm gonna have to go to central on thursday. need to buy shoes, these are all falling to bits. I got a bit sunburnt, I put factor 50 on before I went to the pool, we were only swimming for maybe 2 hours! So I'm gonna go sunbathing one day...using lots of lotion.

I have a feeling I'm not gonna get to relax this holiday! I'm enjoying Chiang Mai, but I can be happy anywhere. I'm adapting to situations very well. I think I may even be happy to go to the farm for christmas with a thai style toilet and bucket for a shower. I'll have to bring food though :)

Call me when you wake up, but only for a wee while as I'll prob be out with stewart and murray. Okay mumma, I love you. I'm going back to the hotel to drop off the laptop and then going to soi 9!! ugh, too far away. x

Had a fabby day today.

Went to Lisa and Rocky's to play with the kids then we all went to the dam (mae pa reservoir) again. Niamh and Jack's family, Lisa and Rocky's and a few more friends.
It's a big post and I'm absolutely knackered so I will post it tomorrow. Tomorrow morning I'm getting the 8am bus to Chiang Mai with Lisa, Rocky and their kids. They're moving to Chiang mai for 5 months, but I'll meet up with them during my 6 days there and I'm also going to their farm for Christmas.
I cannot wait to eat Chiang Mai food, I'm definitely going to McDonalds. I'll also be swimming a lot and shopping :) It will be a good holiday, a wee break fro Mae Sot life.

Today is my step brother Adrians wedding day. He is marrying his fiance Rachel and I'm really sad I couldn't be there. But I've told mum to take a lot of pictures and tell them I'm asking for them.
Last night I had a dream my friend Caro died in a car crash and I was hysterically crying in my dream. I told this to the noh noh's today and they said that this is good luck but I must'nt tell her because it will ruin her good luck. I called her to tell her and keep her off the road. Caro doesn't need good luck :)

I'm off to bed, won't be easy to wake up at 6am.

I'm on holiday!

Today, after the Science examination for Grade 1 & 2 (Social for Grade 3, 4, 5 & 6) Koh Kyaw Win came to Hle Bee with many other people. Kyaw Win came to Forthview last year as the exchange for the Global Schools Partnership link. He also put together the Burma book and held the exhibition in Chiang Mai that I went to on my way to Mae Sot in August.
They came to the school to talk about a Burmese political prisoner in Insein prison. Today is his birthday.

Then the children ate, Teacher Phyu Phyu had to feed a Grade 2 girl because she broke her arm. She also had to scribe her examinations for her.

Teacher Than Linn Aaung.

Grade 1 teacher..I always forget her name..eek.

Y Sander Wai.

I was about to leave the house to drop off my laundry tonight. I didn't lock my bedroom door (rare) but I locked the front door. Then I went to unlock the gate and my keys were not there. So I was locked outside of the house, but inside the garden. Fortunately my roommate came home 5 minutes later and let me in, my keys were on my bed. Eeek!
Tonight I went out for dinner to the night market with Koh Kyaw Win and GA, it was a really good to talk to Kyaw Win and for GA to see him again.
night night x

Ohhhh!

I got my hair cut on Sunday, it was only £2.43 or something! amazinggggggg!
The place was just this little normal hairdresser but they took you through to this amazing room at the back to wash your hair where it was all dimly lit with beautiful stone walls. They had these amazing leather seats that you lay down. The seat hung over the basin, so your neck didn't hurt on the basin while they washed your hair, fabby.
You can see the haircut in some of the later photos on the last blog, not taken proper photos yet.

The biggest catch-up you ever had.

Theres so many pictures, so I'll be brief with words. I'll try & date them.

My cutest little Grade 3 student on the right.

I went to borderline and GA was eating.........................a chicken's foot!!!!!!

9th of October.
I went to visit GA at Borderline and met a man called Jim McNalis. He was teaching some of the artists how to make clay sculptures. They were amazing, each of them with their own personalities.

Jim is well known for his sculptures and is proud to be recognised for his work of General Than Shwe, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and others. His work is extraordinary and I was humbled to meet such a kind, enthusiatic man.
You can see pictures of his work here -
Jim working on his mini Than Shwe.

The artists picked the method up really well and produced fabby sculptures.

Little Than Thoo Zaw's mother.

10th of October '09
I made pancakes with GA and the woman who runs the Borderline kitchen.

Then I went to Lisa and Rocky's house and all the Noh Noh's made Mohinga for the Prayers the next morning.
Caro here's some weirdo animals..

Ailsa naked again, always naked. She is a water baby if ever there was one, showers probably 4 times a day and drinks water like a fish.

Noh Noh's making mohinga.

Ailsa on banana tree.

That night, we went to the dam (Mae Pa reservoir) with Rocky and Lisa and Jack and Niamh's families. It was so beautiful, we're going back on Saturday so I'll take lots of photos then. We ate there while the sun was setting. So gorgeous.

11th of October.
The next morning everybody gathered at Lisa & Rocky's house for prayers, then ate mohinga.
Rocky had been away in Chiang Mai for a few days and he brought back new outfits for Jack and Ailsa. They looked very cute in them and Ailsa loved the elephant on hers.

Aina - Jack and Niamh's little baby.

She loves sticking her tongue out. (I lost that bracelet!)

Noh Noh's with Jack.

(Older) Jack's grandmother with Aina.

12th of October.
Because some of the teachers were at training the week before exams, both the Grade 1 classes were put together. There were something like 83 children, with ONE teacher. Yan Yan was busy preparing for exams.

13th of October.
Burmese examination - no lesson planning, yay!

Later, I went to Borderline and saw little Than Thoo Zaw, he slept.

Then took many photos.

Then we made paper boats and let them float in the sink.

15th of October - today.
This morning I went to get breakfast at Canadian Dave's and his little grandaughter was downstairs, the first time I've seen her.
She is the tiniest little thing, a month old today. They were shaving her hair when I was there, they explained that they shave the baby's hair at one month and take it to the Temple.
Dave's wife, Chuley? I never know about spelling.
Mother and Father.
Then I went to the school and the chidren did their Maths examination. I marked some of Grade 2's English exam papers, will continue tomorrow.
Tonight I went out for dinner with the Canadians to a little Thai place and ate Pad Thai, it was actually good! Only 20 baht! 36p!
I'm off for just now, night night.
Ps. Post comments you ratbags, I posted a lot tonight!
