This isn't nearly as exciting as the last post.

But on sunday, I had a great day. I went to Hle Bee and played with Wai Hin and ToTo as I promised. On my way there I passed Tha Zin and Wai Hin, they were on their way to the market.
When I got to school, everybody was there. The family and some of the teachers.
Yan Yan, ToTo and I went on the motorcycle to see these huge pots that they keep water in. I forgot to take a photo. But this picture is for Caro. You wanted to see the skinny cows here. Weeeeeeird eh? Look at all the bones.

The teachers made Mohinga, which is the Burmese dish. But it makes me feel really sick so I didn't have any and they understood. They told me to take a picture of them eating as a family. Mon So enjoyed posing for the camera.

We played volleyball. Baby loved my fake pregnancy. She kept hitting my 'Nivea' baby though.

Then we played in the paddling pool. It was so much fun and teacher Phyu Phyu joined in.

Fun day, it makes me sad because I'm worried I won't be allowed to go back to Hle Bee school again. These people are like a family to me and Hle Bee is the only reason I came to Mae Sot.

  2. Lovely posting and don't worry, Louise, you will get back to Hle Bee, just as soon as they sort their Thai practice out with the authorities. You can still go there at nights and weekends. I know this will be boring for you but it's all part of life's rich tapestry. Mother lecture over for today, except to say the fake pregnancy filled me with horror! Don't you dare bring back your own Burmese baby ..... well not for another 10 years at least, then you can!

Look at Toto and Wai Htay in their swimming pool, I MUST show this in school. Think of all the facilities available to Scottish children and this is swimming for these 2 adorable fun Burmese kids. What an unjust world.

That's a brilliant photo of the school family and teachers eating their dinner. It shows how committed these people are to live in the school and share their whole lives together... and sometimes they don't even get paid....

I am so wishing I was there with you.

  4. What a fab photo of the pool! It looks like great fun and, like your mum, I'm totally jealous and want to jump on a plane. It is cold and wet here!! I think that it's fine to have a 'less exciting' post - you've had more excitement than you can shake a stick at! A little more boredom on your part please! Pregnancy suits you (just teasing Sheila!) and glad to see you have the Mae Sot frizz!
    Big hugs to you

  5. She's right, you do have the Mae Sot frizz. Do your GHDs not sort that then? Hee hee. You also have a suntan, probably for the first time ever, whitey! Hurray! Mum

  6. This was not the Mae Sot frizz actually. This was an on purpose hair-do thank you very much.

  7. Louise, you are an inspiration to many people, what you are doing in Mae Sot is fantastic. Your scary Mondays must frighten the living daylights from your poor mum but keep going and we will keep following your exploits with great admiration
